While I consider myself to be something of a shopping expert (I help other women shop for a living, after all), there's one item I absolutely LOATHE shopping for, and that's running shoes.
So many brands! So many models! So many different proprietary technologies!
And what if it takes me actually wearing them to discover I've bought a pair that doesn't work for me? I've dropped minor fortunes on shoes before realizing that!
To illustrate the degree to which I dread shopping for running shoes, I will publicly confess:
I wear running shoes MY MOM buys for me - just so I don't have to go out and choose them myself. True story.
(The irony of this is not lost on me. Many of my clients feel the exact same way about clothing and accessories.)
Just this week, I had to face the unavoidable fact that my shoes were worn out and needed to be replaced. So I popped into one shop, where I was shown precisely one pair of shoes before the saleswoman evaporated into thin air. The shoes were too narrow. Feeling like Goldilocks, I pulled boxes from shelves and tried a few more. Failure and disappointment.
I wandered into another shop, just a few stores down. This time, a salesman asked me what I was looking for. I listed my running shoe requirements. He listened, and brought out two pairs of shoes. Neither worked, but one nearly fit. When I told him what bothered me about the shoes, he brought out a third pair.
I tried on the shoes.
Walked around in them.
Jumped up and down in them.
Walked around some more.
And I knew.
Goldilocks had found her shoes.
I bought them.
All it took was one person with the knowledge of his craft, and a few minutes of my time. I was in and out of the store in less than 15 minutes.
I could have spent a couple of hours researching which shoes met all my specifications. And I could have run around the city seeking the stores that carried these models.
Maybe I would even have arrived at the very same shoes...
But what I know for sure is that it would have taken me SO MUCH more time, effort and mental anguish.
It's the same thing with finding your own style.
I know that my clients could find their own unique personal style on their own... given enough time, effort, research, trial and error, and money wasted on the wrong clothes before finding the right ones.
But I also know that I can get them there in a fraction of the time, at a fraction of the cost (we don't waste money on items that don't work), and with the peace of mind that comes with knowing they're in good hands, instead of mental anguish.
So if you're at the point where you know you need help with your style, and it's overwhelming you... Why not book a free 30-minute consultation with me?
You have nothing to lose and peace of mind to gain!
